Our final public show on the 2018-2019 season is a revival of one of our most powerful dramas. Welcome to Kindertransport: The Children’s Train. This musical drama, last seen in 2011, moves its audience directly back to 1930s Europe, where, as the Nazi threat grew, groups of Jewish German, Polish and Czechoslovakian children, amongst others, were evacuated to safety. Many of these children were taken out by special trains that became known as the Kindertransport.

Many of these children ended up in Canada, America and the United Kingdom and so many were never to see their parents again. This theatre show performed by our wonderful company of young actors perfectly illustrates the tragedy and bravery of some of these true stories. This moving play with music was first created by our resident writer and director Nick Moore in 2006 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the transports. It is both thought-provoking and informative and powerful night’s theatre. To tell these tragic stories it uses a mix of fictional recreations and actual verbatim testimony performed in a theatrical setting. As the stories unfold the staging and music slowly envelope us and remind us that the horrors of Nazi Germany are never very far away. Booking is now open for the show which we anticipate will sell out very quickly
